Through the Healthy Meals Incentives initiative, FNA and Action for Healthy Kids (AFHK) supported school food authorities (SFAs) nationwide with nearly $30 million in grant funding, reaching 264 SFAs across 44 states and the District of Columbia. These grants provided up to $150,000 for small and rural school districts to enhance the nutritional quality of their meals and modernize their operations through efforts such as:
- Innovative staff training programs;
- Kitchen updates and renovations;
- Redesigning food preparation and service spaces;
- Other school-district led efforts to support school meals and school nutrition professionals.
